Manchester Schools Track Championships
Simply put, this is Velodrome Track racing for Manchester School Pupils in Years 7 & 8.
Track Racing is an exciting sport, and an Olympic sport in which GB have excelled in recent years. Manchester has one of the best tracks in the world, where Team GB train as well as children from as young as 9 years old.
In schools racing, riders work as a team to score points for their school across a series of league races. Riders will be selected by school, then coached to ride the track safely and confidently before taking part in their races.
All races will be 1 lap of the track in a short pursuit against another rider, simply put the first rider back to their start / finish line will win the point for their school.
Riders who enjoy the schools racing may want to explore training and racing at Club level with Manchester's resident track club, Eastlands Velo and there is further information below about the opportunities available for those wanting to get involved.
